It doesn't matter which way we spin it; breaking up stinks. (Unless, of course, you're the breaker-upper, in which case it's like a cause for celebration.) Either way, cutting the relationship cord has gotten a bit easier ever since text messaging hit the scene. As it turns out, break up texts can be hilarious.

Last week I signed the Zoo FM's "TXTNG KILLS" Pledge. I'll be the first one to admit that I'm one of the biggest offenders of this deadly action. Over the past 7 days I've tried very hard to ignore the constant buzzing in the car seat next to me, and yet I have to keep reminding myself of the dangers. My boss at the station brought up an interesting fact: if you are driving down the freeway and look down to check your messages for only a second you travel the length of a football field! I can only imagine what can go wrong in that long of a distance.
One other eye opening realization came from when I was presented with this shocking video of the disasters that can come from texting while driving. Mind you, this video is more shocking than most Hollywood horror movies. The images are graphic and the scenarios are all too real. If anything will scare you straight it's this short movie.
Even though the Missoula "no texting while driving" law has been in effect since July of 2009, frankly it's making our roads even more dangerous than ever before. Problem is, when that phone starts buzzing in the passenger seat, the temptation is just to great. We HAVE to see who is texting. Even if we are in bumper to bumper traffic on Reserve street we are replying to that person on your lap, hiding the phone from any on-lookers. This here seems to be the cause for more accidents than ever before in our city.
According to KGVO News Talk Senator Anders Blewett says texting while driving is more dangerous than driving under the influence. Scary, huh? As a result, the Montana Senate has voted down a bill making it a crime to text while driving.
It took me a few stupid close calls for me to realize that answering a text in traffic isn't nearly as important as coming home in one piece to my family.This is why I recently signed the Zoo FM "TXTNG KILLS" campaign and am proudly wearing the reminding thumb band that I received after signing this life saving promise. Last week, blogger Sean Symons captured horrifying footage of a teen driver who crashed into the side of the road, then hit two oncoming cars, all while he was allegedly texting and driving.
According to his YouTube page, Symons called the police when he spotted the texting teen, then pulled out his camera to catch the teen in the act. The original video was reportedly handed over to the police as evidence, Symons said.
