On Friday, a female called 911 to report she had been assaulted in her room at the Citilodge Motel. A Missoula Police Department officer responded to the motel to interview the victim. The victim informed the officer she is a housekeeper at the motel and also resides in one of the rooms. According to the victim, she was in her room around 8:30 a.m. when she heard a knock on her door. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold explains.

“On scene, the victim described Amy Hout who was an acquaintance to her,” Arnold said. “According to the victim, Hout had shown up to her door and knocked. After knocking, the victim didn’t answer and Hout kicked in the door.”

The victim said Hout asked her something like, “Where are the drugs?” The victim said she responded, stating something like, “Sorry to disappoint you.”

“When Hout was in the room, Hout demanded to know where the drugs were,” Arnold said. “The victim denied knowing anything about drugs and Hout proceeded to physically assault the victim, causing injuries to the victim, and stole cash. Hout was taken into custody on aggravated burglary.”

The victim said Hout punched her in face and shoved her head against a wall. The victim said Hout knocked her down, got on top of her, punched her in the face twice, put both her hands around the victim’s neck and tried to strangle her.

The victim said she threatened to strike Hout with a chain, at which time Hout stopped strangling her. The victim said Hout got up, took $160 from her, and left the room.

The officer observed red abrasions under the victim’s right eye and red marks on her neck. The officer also looked closely at the victim’s head using a flashlight and saw swelling on the back of her head. The victim declined medical assistance for her injuries.

Hout denied knowing the victim, denied being in the victim’s room, denied assaulting the victim, and denied stealing $160 from the victim. Hout was placed under arrest and secured in the back of a patrol vehicle outside of the motel. The victim observed Hout in the patrol vehicle and confirmed she was the one who had assaulted her and taken her cash.

Hout is currently being charged with aggravated burglary.
