Early Saturday morning, Lake County authorities found a young woman in her 20’s badly injured near McDonald Lake in the Mission Mountains.

Undersheriff and Deputy Coroner Ben Woods said the woman has been identified, and she is not the missing woman being sought by Missoula authorities.

Woods said the woman was so badly injured that she is not expected to survive, however, after an investigation over the weekend suspects have been taken into custody.

“Through some investigative leads that were followed by Tribal Police and the Montana Highway Patrol, as well as our detectives that we had called out, either last night or very early this morning, they were able to located four different suspects, and we’ve got them currently in our jail.”

Woods said the woman’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle, but the Lake County Attorney is reviewing the evidence before officially charging the suspects. The woman is in the Intensive Care Unit at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

If the woman dies, there will be charges involving homicide.

No names have been released of either the victim or the suspects, and the investigation continues in Lake County.
