Whitefish Ski Resort Opening This Weekend…On One Condition

Wax up the skis and tighten up those bindings! The word from the top of the mountain is that one of America's Best Ski Towns will be host to another fantastic ski season at Whitefish Mountain Resort.

Although, there's one thing that might keep it from hitting the slopes....It's may not be a surprise to anyone living in this area that the current and brutally cold temperatures could hinder the kickoff to the 2014 season. The combination of wind chill and subzero conditions might keep the mountain from opening.

According to KPAX:

Spokeswoman Riley Polumbus says if the current forecast holds, there is a good chance the upper mountain will stay closed for safety.

Polumbus added that if that should happen then resort officials may consider opening the lower mountain chair lifts with discounted tickets.
