In an act of a truly great leader, University of Montana President Seth Bodnar has called for the upcoming inauguration weekend to celebrate all, as opposed to making it about himself.

President Bodnar has declared October 26th and 27th "A Celebration of Service" with a full schedule of campus activities. Seth Bodnar started as the U of M's 18th president in January of this year.

President Bodnar believes that his transition to lead at the University of Montana provides an opportunity to celebrate and nurture our campus’s and community’s long-standing collective impact, as well as to ensure that our valuable resources are focused on supporting the success and impact of our students, staff, and faculty. As President Bodnar stated in the State of the University address, the University of Montana has never been – and never will be – the product of one person or one mind. Rather, the current and future impacts of this great institution are and will be the result of our diverse and collective capacity.

The official installation ceremony will be a quick one from 12:30 to 12:45 on Friday, October 26th in front of Main Hall. Get the full schedule of events, open to the public, here.

I'd like to personally invite you to the Family Culture Night Social on Friday, October 26th at the Payne Family Native American Center on campus from 5 to 7 p.m. You'll enjoy appetizers and desserts with performances by Native American students and community groups. Plus, dance performances by the Pacific Islanders Club and spoken word and poetry by the Black Student Union. I'm your MC and a $5 donation to benefit these student groups is suggested.
