Two Missoula Banks Are Shutting Down Locations, One of Them For Good
Missoula needs to install a numbered board on a sign as people come into town that reads "X Days Since Our Last Closure." It's getting pretty ridiculous.
It often seems like the closures are mostly affecting restaurants like the Hob Nob or Taco John's, but it's really hitting businesses of all kinds - entertainment centers like The Hub, a beloved place for relaxation like Sorella's Day Spa, and now, two different banks in Missoula are closing some of their locations in town. One of them, at least, is only temporary.
First Security Bank has closed down its South Garfield location
First Security Bank's South Garfield location by the Southgate Mall is locked, with a sign out front that says it is temporarily closed "due to a staffing shortage." The sign lists off a few nearby locations (including the one on Dearborn Avenue, which is basically across the street), and says they'll be re-opening as soon as possible.
Stockman Bank is Closing Their Burlington Location For Good
In less positive news, Stockman Bank has announced that their Burlington Ave location in Missoula is closing down for good. It's last day in business will be on Friday, October 29th.
In a letter sent to customers, Bob Burns, Missoula Market President, writes:
Over the past year, our Midtown branch at 1243 Burlington Avenue has operated solely as a drive-up location. To remain focused on full-service banking, we will be closing the Midtown Burlington location on October 29, 2021 at 6:00pm. The friendly staff who have assisted you in the past will be joining our teams at the [other] locations...
The letter also explains that there won't be any accounts changes or anything that customers will have to do. So, the good news is that nobody is losing their jobs over it. Here are the other Stockman Bank Locations that you can visit:
321 West Broadway
Missoula Reserve Street
3301 Great Northern Avenue
Missoula South Brooks
3615 Brooks Street
As always, people are going to wonder: what will be taking the place of that Stockman Bank location? Anything you'd like to see move into that spot?
