Missoula police made a felony arrest over the weekend that started as a simple traffic stop.

"Saturday night, at about 10:25 in the evening, an officer initiated a traffic stop with 27-year-old Ethan Hedtke after the officer observed a violation on Reserve Street," said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. "The stop actually occurred near the intersection of hwy 93 South and Miller Creek Road. Mr. Hedtke had made an improper turn and also had defective tail lamps."

It turned out that there were violations inside the cab as well.

"During the course of the investigation the officer discovered that Mr. Hedtke was on probation and also had in his possession of a small amount of marijuana," Welsh said. "The probation officer authorized a search of his vehicle and subsequent to that, Mr. Hedke was placed under arrest for possession of dangerous drugs and also possession of drug paraphernalia as well as a probation violation."

Marijuana wasn’t the only drug found in the vehicle, police also found methamphetamine.
