It's been a rough few weeks for a lot of reasons, but it's especially hard on those who've found themselves out of work thanks to Coronavirus-related shutdowns. This past week, Missoula shut down all bars and restaurants in town, and tonight the entire state of Montana is following suit.

That means a lot of waiters and bartenders have suddenly found themselves without work and wondering if they're going to be able to pay their bills. Logjam understands that - they had to take roughly 200 part-time workers off the schedule themselves - and they're trying to do what they can to help.

They already set up a Supplemental Income Fund for their own employees, and now they're looking out for the rest of the service industry. Effective immediately, the Top Hat is offering all bar and restaurant workers a 50% discount on their takeout orders at the Top Hat.

This is an awesome move and definitely a big help to those employees who now need to save whatever money they've got. Here's what they said in their press release:

Due to the recent closures of bars, restaurants, breweries and other communal spaces, many service industry workers are left with little to no working hours, resulting in a significant loss of income. During this time, the Top Hat would like to offer all restaurant and bar industry workers in Missoula a 50% discount on their Top Hat takeout orders.

Service industry workers just need to provide proof of their employment upon payment (i.e. pay stub). This offer will be limited to one take out order per day during the mandatory restaurant/bar closures, and does not apply to the sale of alcohol. The Top Hat phone number to order take-out is (406) 728-9865.

This is a way for service industry people to get a great deal on an awesome meal, while also supporting a local business that employs fellow service industry people.

The Top Hat is also currently running daily takeout specials including family style meals, and packaged beer, wine and cider at discounted prices.

Additionally, please take a moment to learn about the Logjam Supplemental Income Fund, a way for Logjam/Top Hat to provide financial assistance to those affected by the loss of hourly wages due to mandatory closures. Learn more and see how you can help here.

Lastly, all of us at Logjam and Top Hat want to give a sincere thank you to everyone who’s supported us, particularly within the past few days. Whether you’re ordering takeout from the Top Hat, donating to the fund, sharing our posts or providing encouraging words — we really appreciate you. We feel so thankful to live in a place like Missoula, where a community can come together to make it through difficult times.

Stay healthy and take care of each other. There are plenty of good times to come.
