University of Montana Campus Recreation invites runners and walkers of all ages to the seventh annual Griz Glow 5K Fun Run. The event is at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13. Programs and Development Senior Assistant Director Natalie Hiller-Claridge says proceeds from the run will go toward a very important program.

“Our annual Griz Glow Run was basically created to help raise money for our Youth Camp Scholarship Fund,” Hiller-Claridge said. “All of the proceeds, every penny, goes to children that otherwise wouldn’t be able to come to camp in the summer. The run itself is a 5K run and it is on the University of Montana Golf Course.”

Participants are encouraged to dress crazy with lots of bright light and colors. Hiller-Claridge says different community groups get involved and provide on-course entertainment.

“They do these areas that we call the Glow Zones and it is a little competition,” Hiller-Claridge said. “Every half mile they setup whatever they create. For example, we have the circus club come out and they are juggling fire and doing all kinds of crazy stuff while the runners run by them.”

Registration costs $30, but children 10 and under are free. Participants will receive a race T-shirt, a reflective race number and LED bracelets and necklaces. Online registration is open until noon on April 13.
