Teacher Gives Her Student a Priceless Gift

Nobody can deny that teachers do a lot for their students. In fact, teachers are known for going above and beyond when it comes to kids. They spend their own money on school supplies for their classrooms, they grade papers into all hours of the night, and some even volunteer to show up and open the gym during the summer for their students.

Teachers can be some of the most selfless and giving people you will ever meet. So, it should be no surprise that a teacher would literally give her kidney to her student.

Ohio first grader Nicole Miller received a kidney from her kindergarten teacher, Wendy Killian. Nicole suffered from a genetic kidney malformation that caused her to frequently miss school. Miller’s mother and Killian were talking during a parent-teacher conference when Killian discovered that she fit the criteria to be Nicole’s kidney donor.

Just a couple of weeks ago, on April 23, Nicole Miller received the most generous gift a teacher could give her student. The gift of a better life.

The next time you drop your child off at school or pick them up after the school play, be sure to give his or her teacher a much deserved “thank you”. Not all teachers are able to give their students a gift like kindergarten teacher Wendy Killian, but they all give their students the best of themselves every day.
