It was a great week for student athletes at the University of Montana, as they closed the 2018-19 spring semester by winning the Big Sky Conference.

Student Athletes at the University of Montana are performing better than ever in the classroom, according to numbers just released by the UM Athletic Department.

The University of Montana Athletic department came out on top where it really counts, in the classroom, with 72 Academic All-Big Sky Conference selections in the spring semester.

47 student athletes from UM fall sports teams have received Academic All-Big Sky honors, extending a record of cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for student athletes for 11 and a half years.

After scoring the highest cumulative GPA ever, University of Montana student athletes placed 58 on the Academic All-Big Sky team.

University of Montana Athletes are doing more than just achieving success on the field or on the court, they're also setting records in the classroom.

Until this week, University of Montana's over 300  student athletes were on their own in finding a time and place to study between practices, travel and other athletic activities.

Ground was broken Wednesday morning for a new athletic academic center on the University of Montana campus, highlighted the the announcement of a $1 million donation to the athletic department.

The term "student-athlete" will have more meaning to recruits and their parents with the completion of the University of Montana's new Athletic Academics Center, now entering its final design phase.

University of Montana student athletes have passed a major milestone, not on the field or on the court, but in the classroom.

University of Montana student athletes did more than just participate in sports and studies in 2012-13. Athletic Director Kent Haslam also stressed the importance of serving the Missoula community. And they responded, logging over 700 hours of service.

Tuesday evening, The University of Montana Department of Athletics and Copper Connection hosted the student-athletes' second-annual talent show, Griz Got Talent. The entire talent show was an entertaining combination of talents, skits and comedy featuring UM's sports teams and the coaches.
