Sunday COVID-19 Report for Montana

The September 13th report from the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services shows 96 new positive tests for COVID-19, bringing the total active cases in the state to 2,045 with 145 of those infected in the hospital.

By county, Yellowstone County had 34 new cases, Roosevelt 12, Lake 9, Rosebud 7, Cascade 6, Gallatin 5, Glacier 4, Big Horn 3, Carbon, Custer, Deer Lodge, Richland and Silver Bow each with 2 new cases, and Flathead, Hill, Lewis & Clark and Missoula Counties each with 1 new coronavirus positive test.

The reminder from public health officials remains the same - keep your social circles small, maintain social distancing, wear a mask and wash your hands frequently. A recent study from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle found that the immune response from men and from people over the age of 60 is weaker than the rest of the population. Researcher Nichole Lieberman said in a news release, "Differences in the immune response in older individuals and men may contribute to the greater severity and higher mortality we see in these groups."
