I can see where this is a fantastic idea for some........just not for me. There's no way I could focus on a fitness class while knowing there's a Cinnabon store just yards away from me. There's no doubt that all my gains would quickly be wiped out. It's just a given that I can no longer go to Southgate Mall without making a stop for some ooey-gooey cinnamon roll goodness. At this point it's become a mental thing - like being a kid and not stepping on a crack or I would break my momma's back. It's the same idea.......I just have to stop at Cinnabon or I believe bad things will happen in the universe.

But for those with a little more willpower, Southgate Mall is offering a pretty cool summer workout program on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you've found it to be a struggle to stay motivated in these wild times we live in, perhaps a little group motivation in an outdoor setting can get you back in the swing of things. The first class is scheduled for August 5th.

To promote physical and mental well-being during this crazy time, Southgate Mall is launching a weekly Summer Sweat Series. Socially-distanced, outdoor fitness classes will get your blood pumping each Wednesday and Saturday at 9 AM from August 5 until September 5. Classes led by fitness trainer Lizzie Dolan of LizFit Fitness and are free with pre-registration. Guests should bring their own yoga mats, water and other items needed to exercise outdoors on pavement. And be sure to bring your mask in case you want to shop inside after class!

All classes are located in the parking lot next to H&M.

Registration is free, but required.
