UPDATE - Monday, June 20, 5:00 p.m.

The victim in Saturday's fatal crash has been identified as 69 year-old Joel Jones of Missoula and the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports that a Missoula man in his 60's was killed Saturday morning in a one-vehicle crash on I-90 near Bonner.

Trooper Carl Ward said the crash occurred just before 8:00 a.m. and the driver was the lone occupant in the vehicle.

"The vehicle was eastbound on I-90 near mile marker 111," Ward said. "It left the roadway to the left for an unknown reason at this time, traveled on the median in the roadway continuing eastbound, and when it encountered the DOT (Department of Transportation) fence that runs north and south between the two bridge decks, it vaulted, rolled, and landed on its roof on the roadway below I-90."

Ward said the unidentified man was not wearing a seat belt, and was killed at the scene. He was not ejected from the vehicle.

Ward said neither speed nor alcohol are suspected to be involved in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.
