Missoula Search and Rescue along with Missoula Rural Fire crews recovered the body of a man from the Clark Fork River on Thursday afternoon.

Public Information Officer with the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, Jeannette Smith provided details.

“At approximately 11:10 a.m. this morning, Missoula County Dispatch received a report of a body in the Clark Fork River, west of Missoula and in the vicinity of Tower Street,” said Smith.

Missoula County Search and Rescue and Missoula Rural Fire were dispatched to the scene.

“The body of an adult male was recovered from the Clark Fork River at approximately 2:30 p.m. this afternoon,” she said.  “Missoula County Search and Rescue and Missoula Rural Fire were an integral part of the recovery and their assistance is greatly appreciated.

This is an active investigation. More details will be provided as they become available.”
