Sorry, RPattz fans. The ‘Twilight’ star has extinguished rumors that Lionsgate is interested in him playing Finnick Odair in the upcoming ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.’

Pattison, who just returned from the Cannes Film Festival where he was promoting his upcoming film ‘Cosmopolis,’ spoke to USA Today about the rumors, which he admits he didn’t even know anything about until he saw it online. And as he read the rumors he had no idea if they were true or not:

I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in ‘The Hunger Games.’ I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent. My agent was like, ‘No.’ (My agent) was like no one’s going to offer you that part. I was like, thanks for the reassurance.

While Pattinson’s rabid fan base might be disappointed, the majority of ‘Hunger Games’ readers who took to the Web to protest Pattinson’s casting likely will breathe a sigh of relief this morning. Pattinson was knocked for a number or reasons, mainly surrounding his physical presence. Odair is supposed to be brawny, burly and more … well, let’s just say masculine. Pattinson’s a fine vamp, but ‘Hunger Games’ readers found him to be a little too malnourished to play the dashing Odair.

But the rumor held a little bit of water because Pattinson’s ‘Water for Elephants’ director Francis Lawrence has taken over directing reigns from series launcher Gary Ross. So the casting search for the perfect Odair continues, as ‘Catching Fire’ is due in theaters on Nov. 22, 2013. Who would you like to see producers cast? And are you pleased or frustrated that it won’t be Pattinson alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the second ‘Hunger Games’ film?
