A tropical Hawaiian theme is planned for this year's Relay for Life in Ravalli County. The "Re-Lei for Life" is encouraging Hawaiian shirts, skirts and leis for the participants of the Saturday, June 8, fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The usual events will be there between 4 p.m. and 12 Midnight. Those include the Opening ceremony and the reflection times of the Luminaria Ceremony at 10 p.m. But keeping the walkers walking will be things like the Hula Dance Lap, the Crazy Lei Lap, the Funky Lap and the Hawaiian Tourist Lap (most tourist-like costume wins). It will all happen at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds in Hamilton. And if the weather doesn't cooperate, the walkers will continue inside the Event Center, (as as happened before.)

The weekend begins the night before the Re-Lei with the free Survivor Dinner at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital Friday night, June 7th. The 5 p.m. Open House and buffet will include Hawaiian-themed dinner and free t-shirts for cancer survivors and their caregivers. Additional t-shirts will be sold at $10 each. You need to RSVP for the dinner at the hospital with Tammy Riley at 375-4464 or online at triley@mdmh.org.
