Why is Only One Student on Campus Currently Running For ASUM President?
It seems that too many students are more interested than hitting the books instead of leading their classmates in student government.
According to the Montana Kaimin:
Only 14 students have completed registration forms to run for the Associated Students of the University of Montana — with the deadline to file a week away.
ASUM needs to fill 24 senate seats, the business manager position and the president and vice president positions for the 2013-2014 academic school year. Only one president/vice president team has filed to run, and three students have submitted registration forms for the business manager position.
This reminds me of the time when I went to the community college up in Kalispell and I came across a crumpled up flyer literally BEGGING the students to get active in their student government. So, just for fun, I ran for office. As a result, I became the student body president by DEFAULT because I was literally the only one running.
So, if you want to liven up your resume and gain some fantastic leadership experience (as I did back in my day), I'd highly recommend you apply for office this week as the deadline is quickly approaching.
