And lo, Larry Wilmore’s The Nightly Show has come to an early end after 259 episodes, but won’t be forgotten. Not only did former Daily Show host Jon Stewart drop by to send off his former show’s “Senior Black Correspondent,” you can watch both Stewart’s and Wilmore’s goodbyes right now.

Having initially shepherded The Nightly Show through development, Stewart donned his suit once again (kept the beard, though) order to commend Wilmore for his work, especially giving voices to those not always heard. Via TVLine:

I just decided to stop by and tell you I love you. And may I say something else: Thank you! … A very wise man once said to me, “Do not confuse cancelation with failure.” And I took that to heart. So I will say this: What you, my friend, were tasked to do, you have done — and done beautifully. You gave voice to underserved voices in the media arena. It was a show that was raw and poignant and funny and smart and all of those things. You did it from scratch. … You took something and got better every [bleepin’] day. … You started a conversation that was not on television when you began it. … What you don’t realize is that you walk out of this room, and that conversation doesn’t end.

At the end of the hour, Wilmore’s own goodbye got a bit more emotional and poignant, as the Nightly Show host addressed the upside-down Earth map seen hanging in the background. The show itself may have come to an end, but per Wilmore himself, “I’m not done yet.”

In the meantime, Wilmore’s work will next be heard as a producer on HBO’s Insecure with Issa Rae, the trailer for which you can find below.
