At around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, a local hospital called the Missoula Police Department and requested assistance. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“A male had entered the emergency room and was seeking treatment for an injury,” Welsh said. “At the conclusion of his treatment, he attempted to leave the emergency room with prescription meds that had not been prescribed to him by a physician. Staff and security attempted to stop the male. He resisted their efforts and actually bit a physician, causing injury. Officers arrived and were able to take him into custody.”

The man was identified as 29-year-old James Jones. Jones was transported to the detention center and is currently being held on one count of felony robbery. Jones was also arrested for obstructing a peace office after he refused to identify himself.
