At around 3:00 p.m. Friday, Missoula police officers responded to a convenience store in the 500 block of East Broadway. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“They encountered a male and identified him as 44-year-old Benjamin Bendowsky,” Welsh said. “Bendowsky was in the roadway and was obstructing traffic. Officers spoke to other persons at the scene. Officers learned that Mr. Bendowsky had driven his vehicle to this store, urinated out in public, and was very intoxicated.”

According to Welsh, officers continued their investigation and decided to take Bendowsky into custody.

“Mr. Bendowsky was arrested for DUI,” Welsh said. “He was transported to the Missoula County Jail and is currently being held for a felony count of driving under the influence. He is also being held for driving while suspended. He was cited for public urination and expired registration on his vehicle.”

This is the fourth or subsequent time Bendowsky has been arrested for driving under the influence, which means he is now facing a felony charge. He is also being held for one count of misdemeanor theft.
