Spring is here allergy season is just beginning. If it seems like allergy season is starting a little early this year, that’s because it is. The only pollen collector in the State of Montana is located on top of the pharmacy building at the University of Montana in Missoula and the person in charge of reading that device spoke with our sister station KGVO news about what's happening and what's to expect this allergy season. Here's Montana’s only national allergy bureau certified pollen counter, Emily Weiler.

Wind pollinated plants cause most pollen related allergies and can be divided into three main stages. Tree pollen season just started and should peak at the end of April. Grass pollen allergies will be triggered around the end of May and weed pollen from plants like the common ragweed should hit the air by early August.
