Montana Grizzly linebacker Dante Olson is not just a big star on the field. His community involvement is also being nationally recognized.

Dante is received received national recognition today for his efforts off the field from the American Football Coaches Association and the annual Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Olson is one of just 22 student-athletes from all levels of college football to earn a spot on the team, honoring their leadership in local communities and overall commitment to giving back.

For over a year, Dante has served as a mentor and pen pal with a class of underprivileged third graders in Northern California farm country, encouraging them to pursue a college education as part of the "No Excuses University" program. Those kids will have the chance to watch Dante play when the Griz visit UC Davis for a game September 28. He has also served as an anti-bullying advocate and been part of UM's Be The Match bone marrow drive. And he maintains a near 4.0 grade point average for his college career as a student.

Dante will be invited to the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2020, and he and the rest of the Good Works Team will be involved in a special community project in New Orleans.

A Griz guy we can definitely be proud of!!! Our thanks to UM Sports Information Director Eric Taber for sharing the good news.
