It's been a rough year for most industries, but movie theaters have been hit especially hard. Most were shut down for months at a time, and even when they reopened, nearly every major release was either delayed or pushed to a streaming service. But now that people are getting the vaccine, and now that studios are finally releasing movies again, there's definitely been a lot more interest in heading back to the theater and taking in a movie.

A movie theater is one of my favorite places to be, so I went back to the local AMC theaters as soon as I was vaccinated and have gotten to see movies like Godzilla vs. KongMortal KombatNobodyWrath of Man, and the original The Fast and the Furious. But, I was still pretty limited in my options - the local theaters were only open on the weekends, and would usually only have one or two showings for each movie per day.

Now, those options are about to expand a little bit: the AMC Dine-In theater in Missoula by the Southgate Mall is now going to be open all week long, just like in the pre-COVID days. It looks like it's only going to be open for evening shows during the week, but we'll likely see those hours expand in the weeks and months to come. The other AMC theater in Missoula - across the street from Walmart - will continue to only be open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays for now.

With expanded days for the AMC Dine-In, free movies on the Hip Strip this summer, another year of Centerfield Cinema, and The Roxy Theater set to finally reopen, it looks like moviegoing in Missoula is about to make a big comeback, and I'm pretty psyched about that.
