Missoula Woman Accused of Public Urination, Is Charged With Felony DUI
Just before 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, someone called Missoula Police and reported seeing an adult female urinating in public. The female was reportedly near a car in the 300 block of East Main Street. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the description of the vehicle also matched one that left the scene of an earlier crash at the intersection of Russell and Broadway.
“The officer arrived in the area, located the vehicle and a female sitting in the driver’s seat,” Welsh said. “He made observations that included a wet spot on the pavement underneath the car’s driver side door, which matched the description of the incident that was provided by the earlier complainant. The officer made contact with the driver and identified her as 52-year-old Karen Martinez. Martinez was sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, the keys were in the ignition, and the engine was running. She was subsequently arrested for DUI.”
The officers learned that Martinez had previous DUI convictions and this was her fourth or subsequent offense, which is a felony. Welsh says the earlier crash is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed.
