After a long, hot summer, Missoula children will be heading back to school next week, with the first day scheduled for Wednesday, August 28.

Tracy Long, Superintendent Office Specialist for Missoula School District One, has the details.

"All K-through grade nine will be starting on August 28, and then the sophomores through the seniors will be starting on the 29th. In addition, we have pre-school starting on September 4th," Long said. "All this week the schools are open and all new residents to Missoula are encouraged to go to their local school and complete their paperwork to get their student enrolled."

Long said parents must have certain documents for their child to be properly register.

"They need to bring in their child's birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of their address, and the enrollment forms are at the school where their child will attend," Long said.

Transportation, breakfast and lunch is provided to all students. Free or low-cost meals are available by registering with the school district online.
