Missoula is accustomed to spending the first Friday of each month enjoying our vibrant downtown scene. Lots of art, wine tastings, shopping and good food. We can still squeeze some fun out of Missoula's fun shops during the pandemic, we're resourceful like that.

This Friday (October 2nd) is the first Friday of the month and there are some socially distanced and virtual activities that you can take part in. A stop by Frame of Mind is a must! They are excited to unveil the new outdoor art gallery along with a special "Farmer's Corner" project with their gallery manager. It's fun for kids of all ages to get a photo with the balloons and butterfly wings while checking out the outdoor art, too! Find Frame of Mind at 1706 Brooks.

It's also Missoula Monster Project time at the ZACC! Local kids make pictures of monsters, and local artists receive the colorings with no explanation. The artists then bring them to life in whatever way they see fit - through sculpture, painting, paper mache, anything they see fit. The unveiling of these amazing projects will happen for First Friday at the ZACC, from 5 to 8 p.m. If you can't make it for the opening, Monsters will be on display until the end of October.

Some of the downtown art galleries will be open for browsing, others will be virtual only, so be sure to check your favorite gallery's social media before you visit. Now I realize it's not downtown, but Ten Spoon Winery will be featuring music and wine tasting on Friday. It's 5 bucks at the door, kids are free, everyone must have a mask (obvs), and they'll be serving wood fired pizza from 5 to 8 p.m.
