39 year-old Joshua Sherman appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Wednesday charged with felony burglary after allegedly stealing a Walther pistol, an AR-15 rifle and other items, including concert tickets.

Deputy County Attorney Caitlin Williams asked Judge Alex Beal for bail to be set at $50,000.

“He has a long criminal history,” said Williams. “In this incident, he stole a gun and was making threats on Facebook about people who should die, including law enforcement. The threats were to such a degree that it concerned a local citizen who indicated that even though she doesn’t really care for law enforcement, she still reported those threats.”

Williams detailed Sherman’s lengthy criminal history.

“He has an extensive felony criminal history,” she said. “Possession of a stolen vehicle in 2011, attempt to elude in 2008, possession of a stolen vehicle in 2008, trafficking in stolen property in 2003, and escape in 2001.He also has an open felony criminal mischief case in Helena at this time.”

Bail was set at $50,000, and Sherman was remanded back to the jail. If he makes bail in Missoula, he will be returned to Helena on a $40,000 warrant.
