Major Missoula Road Projects on the Summer Schedule
Beginning this Monday, June 22, the Montana Department of Transportation will begin working on some of Missoula's largest thoroughfares.
The improvement projects are highlighted by the resurfacing of (get ready) over five miles of Reserve Street from Brooks to Interstate 90/Grant Creek Road intersection. With that, there will be a reconfiguration of the Grant Creek Road/Interstate 90 intersection.
There are going to be ADA upgrades at all Interstate 90 eastbound ramps, the Interstate 90/Reserve Street intersection and the Expressway/reserve Street intersection.
These construction areas are some of Montana's busiest roads. The Montana Department of Transportation is working to ease traffic congestion related to the projects by completing a large portion of the Reserve Street concrete rehab and the Grant Creek intersection at night. While some special circumstances may require single-lane closures during the day, MDT anticipates that most of their work will be performed between 7:00 pm. and 7:00 a.m. each day.
During nighttime hours, travelers should expect single-lane closures and reduced speed limits on Reserve Street. Flaggers may be present. Business accesses will remain open, but delays can be anticipated in the evening hours for drivers entering and exiting. And remember, the project area is considered an active construction zone 24 hours per day, even when crews are not present.
During daytime work hours at the Grant Creek Road/Interstate 90 intersection, shoulders will be closed and drivers will see lower speed limits and construction workers. Delays up to 15 minutes are possible.
