The economic impact of COVID-19 has been hitting everyone in different ways, and as cases continue to rise in the US, it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon. Businesses around the country that were forced to shut down for months have been struggling to survive, and that can often mean closing down a location or shutting down for good, like how Kettlehouse Brewing had to permanently close their Northside taproom.

Recently, Ascena Retail Group, a large organization that owns Lane Bryant, Ann Taylor Loft, Catherines, Lou & Grey and Cacique, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and as a result, they're closing down over 150 stores across the country. And one of them just happens to hit on a local level - the Lane Bryant in the Southgate Mall will be closing down for good.

It's unclear at this point when exactly the Lane Bryant will close down for good - according to Google, it's still open as of this writing. This might just be the first wave of closures for Ascena, as their bankruptcy filing notes that a "significant number" of their 2800 stores will end up closing. Will this be the end of it? The longer the pandemic goes on, the more we're going to see news like this, as businesses struggle to stay afloat. Did you ever stop by Lane Bryant in the Southgate Mall?
