It's hard to imagine that many of the people in attendance today were heavily focused on a college basketball game.

But that hardly matters when it's the annual University of Montana Lady Griz basketball team's School Day Game. And even the most devoted fans of the Lady Griz probably had trouble staying focused on this lopsided mismatch.

In front of an announced crowd of 7,205, Montana raced out to a 15-0 lead halfway through the the first quarter and continued to pour it on from there, dominating MSU-Northern 98-45. Hamilton's Taylor Gologoski led the Lady Griz with 20 points and the loudest cheers from what seemed to be her own personal grade school cheering section who came to watch her play.

Lady Griz School Day invites school kids from Missoula and surrounding areas to attend the game free of charge. And while they are much more interested in Monte the Mascot, mini-basketball souvenirs, flying t-shirts and playing Monte Says with University of Montana president Seth Bodnar, it's great to have them there. And special recognition goes out to teachers and support personnel for keeping them all very well behaved.

We hope you had fun, kids, and we look forward to seeing you next year.
