Join the Missoula PaddleHeads for 2nd Annual River Cleanup Day

It's a bit depressing when you think about the Missoula PaddleHeads setting a goal to collect 1,000 lbs. of trash from the Clark Fork River with their River Cleanup Day last year. Obviously, it's not depressing that they were doing it - it's depressing that there's so much waste in and along the river. Not only that, but they easily passed the 1,000 lbs. goal and ended up with an amazing (and disgusting) 6,000 lbs. last year.

Well, it's time to do it again! The 2nd Annual River Cleanup Day is happening this weekend - August 22 - and volunteers will get FREE tickets to the PaddleHeads' game on Sunday night. Help save the planet and take in a game? Sounds like a good Sunday to me. The PaddleHeads' website says: "Anyone interested in preserving the health of our river after another summer of world-class recreation should join us at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22nd at Ogren Park Allegiance Field. Volunteers will receive supplies, river section assignments, and a post-clean up lunch at the ballpark."

After helping pick up a bunch of junk that lazy individuals couldn't seem to dispose of properly, you'll get lunch from Five on Black. Plus there'll be prizes for things like most weight collected and the strangest item found. Beer and cider will be available for purchase with lunch.

It's a cool event that makes us proud to have an organization like the PaddleHeads in the community. Also, a big high five to Republic Services for disposing of all the trash and recyclables that are collected during the day!
