John Cena and Nikki Bella have broken up after six years together.

The WWE couple announced their split and publicly called off their May 5 destination wedding in a statement shared on social media Sunday night (April 15).

“After much contemplation and 6 years of being together Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple,” read the statement. "While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”

Hours later, Cena shared a "worst day ever" meme on Instagram, seemingly in response to the announcement.

Cena and Bella, who began dating in late 2012, got engaged during WrestleMania 33 in April 2017.

Following a tag team match victory, Cena got down on one knee in the ring and proposed to his longtime girlfriend.

Cena has appeared on Bella's two reality shows, Total Divas and Total Bellas.

Both Cena and Bella were previously married. Cena was engaged to actress Elizabeth Huberdeau between 2009 and 2012. In 2014, Bella revealed on Total Divas that she married her high school sweetheart at the age of 20 before annulling the marriage three years later.
