Last week I signed the Zoo FM's "TXTNG KILLS" Pledge. I'll be the first one to admit that I'm one of the biggest offenders of this deadly action. Over the past 7 days I've tried very hard to ignore the constant buzzing in the car seat next to me, and yet I have to keep reminding myself of the dangers. My boss at the station brought up an interesting fact: if you are driving down the freeway and look down to check your messages for only a second you travel the length of a football field! I can only imagine what can go wrong in that long of a distance.

One other eye opening realization came from when I was presented with this shocking video of the disasters that can come from texting while driving. Mind you, this video is more shocking than most Hollywood horror movies. The images are graphic and the scenarios are all too real. If anything will scare you straight it's this short movie.

107.5 Zoo FM is going to attempt to raise awareness and help save lives by issuing nearly 8,000 "TXTING KILLS" thumb bands to area residents, because we all live and raise our families here..and we are all affected. It's a simple message on a small silicone band with a purpose of sending a clear message: "Texting While Driving Can Cost You Your Life"

You can also do as I did and sign the "Texting Kills Pledge" in the coming weeks. I'll be hitting the streets soon with the thumb bands and the pledge for you to join me in this commitment. Stay tuned.
