The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Housing Authority has released information regarding the COVID-19 cash assistance program. Tribal members who live on the Flathead Reservation could qualify for cash assistance.

If your family suffered, or is still suffering, direct substantial financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you may qualify. Cash assistance funds are intended to be used for paying rent, a mortgage and/or utilities. With so many businesses closed for so many weeks, I imagine this will be an incredible relief to families who had little to no income during this time.

To qualify, applicants need to provide proof that they lost a job, had their hours cut, that their place of employment was closed, or other loss of wages due to the pandemic. Here's a significant piece of info right here, if you were unable to work because you had to stay home with your kids due to schools being closed, you do qualify for the program. Although the S+K Housing Authority is currently closed due to the pandemic, you can find more info about the cash assistance program, along with the online application HERE.

I've been hearing about great people helping their friends and neighbors, and taking good care of their elders on the Flathead Reservation during the pandemic. Keep that up, your kids and your elders need you more than ever, make sure they're taken care of, and like the saying goes, we'll all get through this together.
