The annual Hamilton Community Christmas Tree lighting will be Friday, November 23, at about 6 p.m., according to the Hamilton Downtown Association (HDA). The live tree is on the Hamilton Post Office lawn at 4th Street and Main Street and was decorated with plenty of lights and ornaments by volunteers earlier this month. The evening starts at 5 p.m. with late night opening of businesses on Black Friday, caroling throughout the downtown area by the Montana A Capella Society, burning barrels on street corners with free s'more materials for the kids, and the official Countdown to light the tree, followed by Santa Claus, who will listen to children of all ages as they detail their personal gift guides.

Fundraisers throughout the year help the HDA put this event together, along with the light-wrapped trees on Main Street (again, thanks to the many volunteers) and the large snowflake lights that are installed around the street lights by the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department. So, come start the season with a "great big" small town experience in Hamilton Friday evening ... then come back on Small Business Saturday!
