Looking for affordable family fun this Friday night? The Montana Lady Griz basketball team has got you covered.

With five seniors, along with a host of new players and coaches, this revamped Lady Griz team looks like they could be a lot of fun to watch. New head coach Brian Holsinger has promised that we can expect to see a more uptempo, aggressive style of play on both ends of the court. And a Montana Lady Griz crowd can really add to the home-court advantage. Those fans were sorely missed in that empty arena during the 2020-21 season.

And while last week's annual Maroon/Silver scrimmage gave fans a small sampling of what to expect, a much better measuring stick is seeing the team play against somebody else. And that's how we get to kick off the weekend for free!

The Lady Griz will host an in-state opponent, the Battlin' Bears from Rocky Mountain College of Billings. There is no admission charge for this exhibition game, which tips off at 7:00 p.m. this Friday (November 5) in the Adams Center. That's right. You can help pack the place and save your money for popcorn, pizza, ice cream and sodas at the concession stands.

At this point, the University of Montana athletic department's policy on the wearing of masks is that they are requested but not required.

The official season opener for the Lady Griz and Griz basketball teams will be a doubleheader on Tuesday, November 9. The Lady Griz open at 5:00 against Northwest Nazarene, followed by the Griz hosting Dickinson State at 7:30. There are a number of ticket options for both teams, single-game, mini-packs of 5 or 8 games, etc. You can stop by the ticket office or visit the Griz Tix website here.
