Great News from The People’s Center in Pablo

On Monday we reported that one person was dead in a fire at The People's Center in Pablo. The fire happened Sunday (9/6) night resulting in the death of a 33-year-old Pablo resident, who was apparently an employee of the Center. The man was found dead inside the building, which was barricaded from the inside, leading to suspicions of arson. An investigation into his death is ongoing.

We did get an uplifting update from The People's Center regarding museum artifacts and photos. Though there is significant fire damage to the building, the fire did not reach the museum portion of the Center, which also serves as a Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes cultural center and gift shop. Some smoke damage to museum pieces and priceless photos will be restored by professionals

There was some talk of an organized effort by volunteers to assist in clean up of the Center, however, with so much broken glass and standing water, plus being in the middle of a pandemic, those efforts were called off by officials. We will keep you informed if any opportunities to help the staff of The People's Center should arise.
