I’ll be honest; seven seasons of Gilmore Girls and one revival later, I’m still not entirely certain why Luke’s coffee was so special. Perhaps Scott Patterson himself can clue me in, now that the once (and future?) Luke Danes is launching his own real-life coffee brand.

Before you start conflating Patterson with his Stars Hollow counterpart, the interview with WealthManagement.com (hey, we all need advice) explains that Patterson’s passion for coffee and financial acumen will eventually pour out “Scotty P’s Big Mug Coffee” in some venue. Passion for proper brew, it seems, is something Patterson shares with Luke:

I’m developing my own coffee brand. We’re almost ready to launch, but we want to have our ducks in a row before we come out with it. Quality coffee is something that I am obsessed with. It’s the thing I look forward to every morning and throughout the day and throughout the evening and now throughout the middle of the night. It’s going to be called Scotty P’s Big Mug Coffee.

Mind you, this isn’t the first time Gilmore Girls has monetized its association with coffee, as Netflix staged several pop-up “Luke’s” in conjunction with the Year in the Life revival. And on that front, Patterson offered an admirably “Luke” assessment of future seasons, stating “I’m not waiting around for that. You know, who the hell knows?”
