FBI Seeking Information on ATM Skimming Suspects in Missoula

The Salt Lake City Office of the FBI is asking for help from Montanans in finding four suspects wanted in an ATM skimming case that occurred at financial institutions in Missoula and Frenchtown, as well as other locations in Montana.

Spokesperson Sandra Barker said on Tuesday that the suspects may be in Montana this winter.

“The FBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects in an ATM skimming case,” said Barker. “What we know is that there were some ATM skimming devices placed at various locations in Vancouver, Washington, and the information that was stolen from those skimming devices were used to make fraudulent withdrawals at ATM’s from different financial institutions in Montana.”

Between March 9 and March 10, 2019, information stolen via the skimming devices was used to make fraudulent withdrawals from ATMs at credit unions in Missoula. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that skimming thefts had also occurred between March and April of 2019 at various locations in Deer Lodge, Frenchtown, Butte, and Ennis, Montana.

Barker described the photos attached to this story, and emphasized that the clarity of the photos may make identifying the suspects easier for the public.

“The photographs are of two people believed to be associated with this skimming,” she said. “We’re trying to get the public’s help in identifying these two people, and there is a tip-line that we’ve established in this case at 801-579-6195.”
