One of the largest bonfires in recent memory lit up the sky Wednesday night at the midpoint of Hamilton High School's homecoming week. Students gathered around the blaze, which was lit and monitored by the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department, across Kurtz Lane from the high school. Then, teams and cheerleaders used a public address setup to sing songs and chant cheers, providing almost enough sound to equal the roaring fire.

The Homecoming Week will continue Friday with a parade down Hamilton's Main Street at 4 p.m. The classes will decorate their floats at Haynes Field, the former high school football field. They will then parade into downtown Hamilton. The best place to view the passing entries will be on Main Street.

That is followed by a Class A football game at the HHS stadium on Kurtz Lane. The Hamilton Broncs will go up against Ronan at 7 p.m. Hamilton has been at the top of Class A football rankings this season and seem to be destined to be included in the post-season state playoffs. If you can't attend the game, it will be broadcast on 1240 KLYQ AM radio and at www.klyq.com.

But that's not all for the students. There will be a homecoming dance at Hamilton High School following the football game. The cost is $3 per student and it will conclude at 11 p.m. However, we're pretty sure that one of the more memorable events of the week will be the Dunk Tank during the noon hour Friday. Hamilton's Mayor is providing the dunk tank for an annual chance for students to dunk some brave teachers at the Hamilton High School parking lot.
