Did you know about the decommissioned air force base located in the middle of nowhere, right outside Havre, Montana?

During the Cold War, these kind of military installations were set up all over the country for all kinds of reasons - surveillance, weapons testing, military training, all that kind of stuff. Havre, Montana was home to the Havre Air Force Station, which was an active base for a few decades, first being built in 1951. The station would continue to be used until 1979, when it was finally decommissioned.

And now, it can be yours.

Yeah, for real. Zillow recently listed a "remote, privately owned, decommissioned radar base" for sale in Havre, and this 36,500 square foot property could be yours for $549,000.

That sounds like a lot of money, but considering how huge the property is and everything it comes with, like an old radio tower, a 16-room motel/barracks, an 18,000 square foot commissary building with a walk-in refrigerator and freezer, and an above-ground bunker and fallout shelter, that actually seems kind of reasonable.

You'll have to come up with a lot of the money up front - the seller is asking for a minimum of a 30% down payment - but after that, it'll be a little over $2,000 per month.

Got any interest in owning your own decommissioned radar base? I know that's not the kind of question you're asked every day, so you may need a moment to think it over. But if you're looking to be this insanely huge and historic property, the opportunity is definitely there.
