It was two years ago on June 16 that then 23 year-old Jermain Charlo was last seen in Missoula, and the search for her has never stopped by her family, friends and the Missoula Police Department.

Detective Guy Baker has been the lead investigator in the young woman’s disappearance, and June 16 has become a painful anniversary.

“June 15, 2018 was a Friday and she was out a couple of bars in Missoula, one downtown and one on the south side,” said Baker. “She was last seen around midnight in the early morning hours of June 16th in the area of the Badlander, when she was recorded on video leaving the Badlander eastbound in the alley south of the bar, between the bar and the parking structure.”

After two years, Baker has no illusions about what happened to Jermain Charlo.

“I have no doubt that Jermain was the victim of a criminal act,” he said. “We still hold out hope that maybe she will be found alive, but each day and week and month that passes, the situation seems more grim. Obviously, her pattern of life was changed abruptly in the early morning hours of June 16th, 2018. She has not communicated with anyone, she has not been active on social media and no one knows anything about her, so unfortunately, something bad has happened to Jermain.”

There is an $11,000 reward for any information regarding the whereabouts of Jermain Charlo offered by the Salish and Kootenai Tribal Council, and Baker is still waiting for that phone call that may provide the information that so many have been waiting for.

“I encourage them to call their local law enforcement, or to call me directly at 396-3217, that’s my cell,” he said. “Sometimes I think people don’t want to bother law enforcement but it’s absolutely no bother. If someone has seen something or anything that may be relevant that would help in solving the disappearance of Jermain Charlo, I most definitely want to hear from them.”

Jermain Charlo would have celebrated her 25th birthday in April, and she has two young sons.
