The number of Montana deer with Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is continuing to increase, according to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The latest report shows seven more mule deer bucks are suspected of having the fatal disease. Greg Lemon of Montana FWP said three deer were in new areas in northern Montana in Valley and Daniels Counties, west of Opheim and near Scobey. Hill County had a mule deer buck that tested positive for CWD, which brings Hill County into the CWD-positive area along the Hi-Line.

With the end of general big game hunting season, FWP is busy checking samples that are continuing to arrive at Helena headquarters. Officials say the results may cause continued expansion of the current CWD-positive areas and the CWD transportation restriction zones. For more information check the FWP website.
