Chance the Rapper has been very vocal about his support for Chicago schools, going as far as to meet with Illinois governor Bruce Rauner about his concerns regarding public education, though he called that meeting "flustering."

But today, he's taken his support to a new level. During a press conference at Wescott Elementary School in Chicago, the rapper said he plans to donate $1 million to Chicago public schools. Additionally, he's donating $10,000 to various public schools in the city for every $100,000 he raises for his non-profit organization. Wescott Elementary received the first of the checks.

“I’m here ’cause I just want people to do their jobs,” Chance told reporters after the meeting with the governor. “I asked [the governor] about funding CPS with that $215 million that was discussed in May of last year and was vetoed in December over, you know, political arguments and s—. The kids are on the table right now. We spoke for a second. It sounded like we were going somewhere, but it’s hinged on passing other bills. I’m not a politician.”

He later tweeted "Do your job" to the governor.
