At around 3:00 a.m. Monday, Missoula police officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 3800 block of Mullan Road. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“The initial complainant had reported that they found a man in their apartment that they did not know,” Welsh said. “The complainant said the man took off his clothes, went into a child’s bedroom, and crawled into a bed with a young child. Upon their arrival, officers arrested 25-year-old Dirus Jim.”

According to Welsh, the parents in the home woke up after they heard their young daughter screaming.

“The man of the house located Mr. Jim in a bathroom,” Welsh said. “He was naked and attempting to strangle the family dog. The man of the house separated Mr. Jim from the animal. At that point, police arrived and took Mr. Jim into custody.”

Jim is currently being held for burglary, sexual assault, indecent exposure, intimidation and animal cruelty.
