Chrandal Creek Fire Update [AUDIO]
The Chrandal Creek Fire burning over the borders of Montana and Idaho has grown to over 2000 acres and is now over 40% contained. Fire Information Officer Greg DeNitto says strong winds forced personnel off of the fire for safety reasons.

National Weather Service forecaster Ryan Leach says Western Montana and Eastern Idaho experienced over a thousand lightning strikes from Sunday’s thunderstorms, however, he says Lake County felt the brunt of the storms.
Western Montana to Remain Hot and Dry All Week
Western Montana will continue to experience very hot, very dry conditions throughout the week and even through the weekend. Forecaster Mike Johnson with the National Weather Service says the hot dry weather, combined with a chance of thunderstorms have created a fire weather alert for the next few days.

After a 44 year-old Anaconda woman was drowned in the Blackfoot River on July 4th, authorities are reminding recreationists who are rafting or tubing on Western Montana rivers to use safety equipment and common sense. 4th of July Festivities at Historical Museum at Fort Missoula [AUDIO]
The 4th of July is always a big day at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, and Wednesday is no exception. Museum Director Bob Brown says the festivities start at 8 am sharp, with a breakfast provided by volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Historical Museum.
Dino Mascot is Missing From Hi-Noon Petroleum [AUDIO]
Please be on the lookout for a large Dino that apparently “walked away” from his spot on the hill overlooking Interstate 90 at the Crossroads Travel Center west of Missoula. He has been missing since the morning of June 21st and has not returned home, nor have any ransom demands been received. Dino is fiberglass and green in color. He stands approximately 6 feet tall and is 12 feet long.
FWP Offers Float-In Campsites on the Blackfoot River [AUDIO]
Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks is now offering reservations for float-in campsites along the Blackfoot River. Public Education Specialist Vivaca Crowser says the campsites are now available at present fishing access sites, including River Junction, Corts River Bend and Nine-Mile Prairie.
Train Fatality Victim Identified [AUDIO]
Sometime this past weekend, 21 year-old Nicolas Anthony Rivera of Missoula found himself on the railroad tracks directly across from the Rock Creek Lodge when a passing Montana Rail Link train struck and killed him. Public Information Officer for the Missoula County Sheriff’s Department Jason Johnson says dental records were used to identify Rivera’s body.
