Just as the weather starts getting warmer, the crew at the Missoula Cultural Council are hard at work planning and preparing for the 19th Annual First Night Missoula. First Night is Missoula's New Year’s Eve community-wide, alcohol-free celebration of the arts. As is tradition, First Night 2013 will showcase performances and activities in more than 30 venues throughout downtown Missoula, the University of Montana campus and Southgate Mall from noon until midnight on December 31st.

"Artists, musicians, performers, craftspeople, storytellers, and others are encouraged to submit proposals for performances, exhibits, workshops and demonstrations of craft, skill or knowledge that embody the creative vitality of our local cultural traditions," says Tom Benson of the Missoula Cultural Council.

This isn't a volunteer deal either, all selected First Night participants are paid, so that's a bonus! Here are the rest of the details:

  • Application deadline: June 30, 2012
  • Notification of acceptance: August 31, 2012
  • MCC is also accepting proposals for First Night 2013 artwork and logo for admission buttons, poster and program
  • Applications available online or by calling 541-0860
