A man who pepper-sprayed a Missoula convenience store employee and a customer during a March armed robbery in which both victims were shot entered guilty pleas to amended charges after a plea agreement was reached in Great Falls.

19-year-old Ivory Brien originally was charged with two felonies for accountability for deliberate homicide in connection with a March 6 incident at the South Avenue Market. Deputy Missoula County attorney Mac Bloom outlined the amended charges.

“Mr. Brien appeared in court in Great Falls on August 2nd, and he entered a guilty plea on amended information on one count of one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and two counts of assault,” said Bloom. “This is in conjunction with that shooting at South Avenue Market in March where a clerk and a patron of the store were both shot by Chase Munson. Mr. Brien pleaded guilty to being there with Mr. Munson and he admitted that he had planned to steal beer from the store and that he pepper sprayed the two victims.”

Bloom said Brien will be sentenced in about a month, but was not sure if the judge would be coming to Missoula for the sentencing, or if it would be done in Great Falls. Details of the plea agreement have not yet been officially filed with the court.

The alleged shooter, Chase Munson, is in the Missoula County jail on $1 million bail. His trial is set for October 3 in Missoula District Court.
