Legendary hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest reunited for the first time in 15 years for a special performance on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday (Nov. 13). The rap quartet was there to promote the reissue of their classic debut album, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, on its 25th anniversary.

Backed by the almighty Roots crew, Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Jarobi and Ali Shaheed Muhammad performed their classic song, “Can I Kick It?” And did they kick it? Yes, they did!

Q-Tip and the gang had the whole crowd chanting, “yes, they can,” and clapping to the song, which famously samples the late Lou Reed song, “Walk on the Wild Side.” The silent member, Jarobi, played hype man as Phife kick his quotable lines from the song.

Overall, this is a fantastic performance that delivers on so many levels. If you are an old-school hip-hop head this should bring a smile on your face.

ATCQ’s 25th anniversary compilation of People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, is a remastered version of their trailblazing 1990 album and boasts remixes by J. Cole, Pharrell Williams and Cee-Lo Green. The collection is available now on Amazon.
